ABRUZZO BETWEEN ART, RITUAL AND NATURE

1st day: Pescara

Arrival in Montesilvano, small seaside resort. Arrangement in hotel and lunch. In the afternoon departure for half day guided visit of Pescara: the Cathedral San Cetteo, built during years 30 of '900, it preserves, over than the holy relics of the Saint, a very precious work of Guercino (XVII century); the Basilica of Santa Maria dei Sette Dolori, built during XVIII century in neoclassic style with excellent works of local artists; the native home of Gabriele D'Annunzio, where the big poet was born in 1863; the port, beating heart of the city and multicultural intersection. In the evening return in hotel for dinner and night.

2nd day: Lanciano and Chieti

After breakfast in hotel, departure to Lanciano, the "miracle city". Time to visit the city and the church of San Francesco, inside where are preserved in their natural state, from 12 centuries, the Meat and the Blood extraordinary transformed from the host and from the wine during the Saint Mass, the so-called "Eucharistic Miracol". Lunch in restaurant. In the afternoon departure to Chieti with stop for a guided visit of the city: the ancient Theater, that in pre-roman époque has been the main centre of Tuscan/umbra population of Marrucini, is now an animated city. The urban underground safeguard the rest of the ancient city. Chieti shows on 2 levels: high Chieti, the historical nucleus and e Chieti Scalo, the modern city, grown around the rail yard. At the end of the visit, transfer to L'Aquila; arrangement in hotel, dinner and night.

3rd day: Gran Sasso

After breakfast guided excursion to Gran Sasso and to Monti della Laga. Visit of Santo Stefano di Sessanio, one of the most beautiful villages of Italy. Continuing to Campo Imperatore, "the small Tibet of Italy", and the vastest tableland of Abruzzo. Typical lunch around L'Aquila. In the afternoon guided visit of the city. At the end return in hotel for dinner and night.

4th. day: Sulmona

After breakfast in hotel, departure to guided visit of Sulmona, one of the centers much visited of the region, famous for the production of “confetti”. To visit: the Cathedral of S. Panfilo, the complex of SS. Annunziata, the church of S. Francesco della Scarpa of XIII century and Porta Napoli, impressive medieval door. Lunch in restaurant in Sulmona. Finish of the services.
